Family and Relatives Experiences
AUSTRIA (OUR) DIVERSE STORY

The family of JUAN AUSTRIA AND ENGRACIA ALCANTARA AUSTRIA are very close to each other. They are from San Jose, Nueva Ecija. Their children immigrated to different places of the Philippines. The second generation were DIONISIA AUSTRIA ASPIRAS who got married to DOMINADOR ASPIRAS from Agoo, La Union who settled at Los Banos, Laguna; ZOILA AUSTRIA DUQUE who got married to RAYMUNDO DUQUE, SR. from Alcala, Pangasinan who settled in Manila; VICTORINO AUSTRIA, SR. who got married to ROSARIO MACASO also from San Jose City, Nueva Ecija and settled there too; GUADALUPE AUSTRIA ASPIRAS who got married to AGUSTIN ASPIRAS from Agoo, La Union who settled at Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga; and CELESTINA AUSTRIA JUINIO who got married to PABLO JUINIO from San Pablo, Laguna who settled in Davao City in Mindanao. They were the second generation.



The third generations are also very, very close to each other. They are now scttered all over the world. Some are already in the USA, some are in another country and some are still in the Philippines. But we have a reunion every two years with our children and grand children. We are always together. Let us uphold the past and to restore the relationship to current as we continue to pray for our Lord's guidance. All our lives have been influenced and changed by our respective environments and world events but we adhere to our values of respect and understanding of each others adopted behaviors. Reminiscing life experience with all second and third generations when we were growing up from elementary schools to college brings us to the good old days of living in the Philippines. We were riding in jeepneys, walking around, attending town fiestas and public dances, visiting relatives and eating a lot of foods. But our most vivid recollections was the constant advice from elder relatives on pursuing respect and assistance to all relatives. We help each other whoever needs a help.



As the third generations are already scattered from the different places of the world, Let us discuss their past and current stories. ROGER ASPIRAS came in the USA in 1961. He was the second relative to enter the U.S. when he went to Texas A&M University graduate school. He published the Austria Web site. RAY (BOY) DUQUE III was a bit player (extra) in the Philippine Movies in the 1960s. He was the founder and promoter of the Austria Reunions which started in Las Vegas in December, 2002. Ray "Boy" is a regular ballroom dancer. RAY (JUN) DUQUE was the best ballroom dancer and a basketball player in the Philippines. EDY AUSTRIA joined the U.S. Navy forces and was the first relative to enter the United States. MARCELO ASPIRAS, SR. joined the United Nations Organization as a Research Economist and was assigned in Rome, Italy. PABLO JUINIO entered politics and was elected as Vice Mayor in Davao City. GLENN MAGPANTAY is currently involved in New York Political activities. RAYMOND DUQUE was the best chess player in the Philippines and the USA. He is the top 50 chess player in the world and the best Filipino chess player in the USA. EMY MAGPANTAY is involve in the Philippine Association and Organization in the USA. VIC AUSTRIA, SR. was a music composer and a big band leader in Nueva Ecija playing the Tommy Dorsey style of big band music. He was a conductor of the rondalla as it was called in the Philippines. JUANITO (TJ) AUSTRIA was the best Flute player in the Philippines and eventually went to the U.S. and finished the medical degree. ARTHUR ASPIRAS worked at the U.S. Clark Air Force Base in Angeles, Pampanga. These diverse experiences continued and spread out among all relatives as we traverse our life's journey.


In addition to this third generation, They have their extended families like Jake Concepcion who was the King of Jazz in the Philippines. Jake is a famous jazz performer. He performed in Japan and commercially recorded various jazz music. Tony Concepcion was a known trumpet player in Florida State where he was one of the best performer. Henry Concepcion who is a pianist was one of the best pianist in San Francisco, California. TEOFILO de LEON who won the Famas Award for Best Film Editor in the Philippine Movies. JOSE CONCEPCION and MANUEL CONCEPCION were the co-leader of the music in the Philippines.
